Haiti research
-Many people killed, so the children were became orphan, or injured and lost their family.
- Ten of thousands of people killed under their 29-year rule.
2. What human rights are being denied to them?
- UN has described the human rights situation of Haiti as “Catastrophic”
- The huge wealth gap between the impoverished Creole-speaking black majority and the French-speaking minority, 1% of whom own nearly half the country's wealth, remains unaddressed.
3. What action is being taken to address this?
- French-speaking minority need to donate the money to the black majorities, who are poor. Also, the government need to participate more on education and health or food.
4. Discuss the difficulties faced by this country as it tries to recover the earthquake.
- Many Haitians seek for the work, and the better life.
5. Why can some countries rebuild faster than others, and what is it about Haiti that put it at the disavantage?
- The countries need to get help from the other countries, who were developed.
- Also it depends how much does the country poor. If the country have a lot of money and strong government, they can rebuild the broken places but if the country is poor, and doesn’t have a lot of money and food, they will be hard to rebuild the government, they might need to wait for other country to help.
6. Find out what is happening now in Haiti, and how it is recovering since the earthquake.
- The earthquake started at January, 12 2010. About the 25,0000 people dead, and that earthquake appeared between 200 years ago. The place became a hell, and they started to rebuilt the government. From now days, the Capital of Haiti became really different than last time. Haiti start to develop. Unicef and other countries helped them, giving the clear water and stable amount of food.
3rd world farmer reflection
- I think the purpose of the game is to think how are we going to earn money and to be healthy. Also, we have to think hard, not just to whatever we want.
Describe and explain your strategy during the game.
- My strategy is to farm. I thought I need money to buy something, and also I thought medicine need money, so I did many farming, so I earned big amount of money.
What is a short- term decision?
- Short- term is a reality - how to get food, how to pay for it. Development has stopped and survival has taken over.
Why are they bad?
- Short- term is bad because it stops to be develop.
Why could somebody in a situation of poverty get stuck in a cycle of short-term decision-making?
- Maybe because it keeps happening and happening. If this happens, people cannot go to school because they don’t have much money. Then they cannot get education, also they will be having a hard time farming to earn money.
What could get them out of this cycle?
- There are one solution: More efficient farming.
What is a long-term decision?
- It is opposite of the Short- term, which is a strategies that you can apply in order to develop.
Why are they good?
- There are no problem that stops to get develop, and because there are no problems, people can go to school, to get education and to earn money.
Why do long-term decisions lead to development and increased standards of living?
-
What did you learn from playing this game?
- During I was playing this game, I thought earning money is really difficult and also to be healthy. This game was really hard because when I got a trouble, I lost most of my money or my things. So I felt so sad that some people in this world get this type to things.
Which SLR does this experience identify most closely with and why?
- I think the SLR ‘Learn Enthusiastically’ can identify most closely with this experience. The reason that I picked this is that when I did the game, just I said, I felt hard and also sad that there are people who live like that. So I think we need to learn Enthusiastically to understand that people and to care them.
Which MDG’s does this simulation relate to and why?

The 1st Peace day project (Peace assembly)
Then, we also delivered the CD to homegroup teachers which are about 15 songs in it, and our teacher told us that we have to say this, "Sorry for interrupt, but this is a special delivery from global issues, Peace." and that made all the class embarrassing!! We know that we have to say that, but the word "Peace" with the two fingers from all the class was really something... however, no choice for us. We just went out to deliver. Yay, but for me, I was not really embarrassing because for 3 people, the 2 teachers didn't have a class!! So I only just did a embarrassing thing once, in Mr. Thomas's class.
So, that was the successfuly done, but however, we still have our projects to finish. That will be in the other post!

Peace one day vidio
-I think the big ideas in the vidio is about peace, and tells that people in all over the world need to care about peace day and help each other.
2) Why is peace so important?
-The meaning of Peace is that all the people in the world need to respect, help, and be honest to other people. If there are no such thing like peace, there will be a war or all the people will hate each other.
3) What are the links between peace and development?
-There are connection between peace and development. If the country gets developed, and earn money, they will use those money to make a medicine for sick people and also helps another country. That's peace. Peace is to help people when they need help, not a hate.
4) What are the hidden costs of war? (Sometimes they aren't so 'hidden' - but often they aren't monetary costs).
-The hidden costs of war is maybe to take a other land, or to be powerful in the world, also to make people get fear to themselves.

What is a Global Issues and why should we care?
I think Global Issues is the one of the most important subject to learn. We have to care about Global Issues because like what I said in the first paragraph, Global Issues is the subject that learn what is happening in the world. If we don't care about Global Issues, you will not know what is going on in the world and why is this problem got, and how to solve the solution. Also, if we do not care about Global Issues, the problems like poor people who are waiting for food, waiting for education will not get solved and global warming will get more serious. Learning Global Issues is the one way to save the world. People need to learn this and help the poor people.
